Several bugs in Mac OpenGL drivers have been discovered by the WebGL team at Google. Apple fixes the bugs but the fixes are generally only available in the latest version of the OS AFAIK:( If the Chrome team decides the bugs are a security issue or if they affect WebGL compatibility in too many cases they have to blacklist that GPU on versions. Availability Supported as of Chrome 9 on Linux, Mac and Windows. See for information on obtaining and running a build. Status • Conformance tests • Passes 100% of 1.0.1 tests • Exposed via either getContext('webgl') or getContext('experimental-webgl') • Typed Arrays • Everything supported Reporting Bugs Please file bugs on. Please add, if possible, the labels 'Area-Internals', 'Internals-Graphics', and 'Feature-GPU-WebGL' to the bug so it will be categorized appropriately. My passport for mac bootcamp. Yes firefox any versions Chrome version: 28.0.1478.0 Channel: dev OS Version: OS X 10.6.8 i added the about:gpu infos. Processing Status: ExternalDependency @jekowa: Your GPU (AMD Radeon HD 6490M) is known to be buggy under OSX 10.6, and has been blacklisted since around July 2012. I'm not sure why you would only just now be seeing this issue, but the only known resolution is to get newer drivers, which in the case of OSX implies an OS upgrade. @come2percin: The WebGL failures on your machine are actually the result of the GPU process crashing 3 times. (At the bottom of your about:gpu log you can see three 'The GPU process exited with code 3840.' Messages) Once the GPU process has crashed three times in a single session we disable WebGL for the remainder of the browser session. I'm not sure exactly what is causing the crash, but it may be something specific to your system. Something like an antivirus or third party driver or recording software, etc. I'll see if I can reproduce your problem, but in the meantime see if you can identify anything on your system that may be interfering with WebGL. Processing @zmo Thanks! That did the trick. I see this should work: --ignore-gpu-blacklist As a developer I can understand disabling functionality to work around bugs. My frustration is that there was a entire lack of _communication_ on Google's part by just breaking things that used to work. No pop-up in the new Chrome detecting when canvas.getContext('webgl') happened that could of alerted the reader along the lines of: 'Sorry, but WebGL has been disabled on versions of OSX prior to 10.8 due to ___. We recommend upgrading to OSX 10.8. If you are unable to upgrade there are two temporary work arounds: 1) Use the command line: --ignore-gpu-blacklist 2) In about:flags, you can change 'override software rendering list' to ___. ' A little communication goes a long way.:-). Processing I find it hard to accept that you cannot support common hardware for a previous-major-version OS. If you're unable to keep up with hardware in the Mac world, where the spectrum of graphics cards in use is fairly limited, how are you coping with the PC world at all? Vpn configuration form. And we're not talking about ancient OS versions either, we're talking about abandoned support for a last year version. When your _browser_ turns out to be more picky about _graphics hardware_ than actual _video games_, you should know something is not right.
